Narsingdi's dominance in Raipura, eastern conflict and the killing of vice-chairman candidate Suman have led to incidents of gunshots and cocktail explosions between supporters of the two sides. Yesterday at 4:30 pm, the incident took place between the supporters of Laykat Ali and Haryat Ali in Methikanda area of the upazila.
In this incident, at least 4 people were injured on both sides. A man named Bakul Mia (48) is undergoing treatment at a local health complex in the immediate condition of being shot. The names of the rest of the injured are not known. The people of Leyaqat Ali's house were supported by the killed vice chairman Suman.
It is known that during the election campaign on June 22, vice chairman candidate Abid Hasan Rubel was attacked by the supporters of rival upazila parishad election, and the vice chairman candidate of Tala Pratik Suman Mia was killed. It was then that the former conflict between the supporters of Hazrat Ali alias Harju and the supporters of the Liaquat Ali Mistry house escalated. As a result of this, today from 4:30 pm, the chase started in phases. At one point, Rubel supporters hurled cocktails at Liaquat Ali supporters.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Raipura Circle) Afsan Al Alam told reporters that supporters of the two sides clashed over dominance. Additional police have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence.
