Worker dies after being shot dead

Garment worker Md Jamal Uddin, 40, who was injured in police firing during a protest demanding a salary hike in Gazipur's Konabari area, has died while undergoing treatment. He died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) late on Saturday night. The deceased, Jamal Uddin Islam, was a garment worker. He is the son of Chan Mia of Ghasali Bazar area under Kendua police station of Netrokona district.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the police camp of DMCH Hospital, said that a garment worker named Jalal Uddin was shot during the movement demanding an increase in salary allowance in Gazipur. He died in ICU number 6 at night.

Jamal Uddin and Anzuara Khatun were shot dead by police in Konabari Jurun area of Gazipur on November 8. Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared Anzuara dead. Jamal, who was shot, was taken for treatment.
