An operational team of Narcotics Control Department (DNC) in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 5.1 kilograms of heroin from Rajshahi city on Monday night. The arrested wsa Jamal, 20, hailed from Kansat Milik Baganbari area under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. Fazlur Rahman, Additional Director of Rajshahi DNC, confirmed the information in a press conference at his office.
Tipped-off, an operational team of the department challenged a stone-laden truck on the Kashidanga-Amchattar road and arrested Jamal red-handed along with the drugs, he said. They have recovered a total of 5.1 kilograms of heroin from his possession and seized the truck along with 15, 110 kilograms of stones, said Fazlur Rahman.The estimate market value of the seized drugs around Tk 5crore and 10 lakhs, he said adding that legal actions were underway in this regard.
