A murder was filed against 195 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the hacking of a BNP activist named Shafiqul Islam Shafiq of Baluakandi village during the anti-discrimination movement at Araihazar in Narayanganj.
45 named and 150 unidentified others have been made defendants in the case. Taslima Akter, the wife of Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, who was killed last Wednesday night, filed the case at Araihajar Police Station as the plaintiff.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-4 Shamim Osman, former Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-2 Nazrul Islam Babu, former Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-3 Member Kaiser Hasnat, and former Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-1 Golam Dastgir Gazi are among the accused in the case.
Confirming the truth, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Araihazar Police Station Ahsan Ullah said that his wife Tashlima Akhter has filed a case as a plaintiff in the case of the hacking of a person named Shafiqul Islam Shafiq on August 5, centered on the anti-discrimination student movement.
Taslima Akter stated in the statement in the case that on August 5, her husband Shafiq, his younger brother Jahangir, Yasin, and elder brother Kabir Hossain joined the anti-discrimination student movement. According to that, as soon as the accused reached the spot in front of the house of the accused Ansar Ali in village Baluakandi that evening, the accused started abusing her husband, Vasur Devard with native weapons in profanity.
Taslima Akter mentioned that Shafiq was hit with a Chinese ax in the hand of accused Rifat on the orders of Ansar Ali because her husband forbade her to insult Shafiq. Later, accused Yasin covered her husband's face with a towel. At that moment, defendant Sadhu and Zamin members cut Shafiq's body at different places and inflicted serious bloody injuries by sharp Da and Ramda. Her husband died on the spot.
