For the first time, renowned writer, thinker, and public intellectual Dr. Salimullah Khan received the ‘Selim Al Deen Literary Award 2025’ organized by the Feni Sahitto Sabha.
On a rainy evening last Tuesday, the award was presented to the contemporary eminent intellectual Dr. Salimullah Khan at the Convention-Darbar Hall of the Station Restaurant in Feni city.
The award-winning writer was given a crest, a certificate of appreciation, and Tk 50,000. In the next part, Salimullah Khan delivered a solo speech; the topic was – Freedom, Humanity, Respect: The Three Legacies of Kazi Nazrul.
In response to receiving the award, Dr. Salimullah Khan said, ‘I received less of an award. Last year, I received the Bangla Academy Award. In the lead-up to this, the Feni Sahitto Sabha nominated me for this award. My sense of responsibility has increased further by receiving the ‘Selim Al Din Sahitya Puraskar 2025’. I am overwhelmed by the sincerity of the organizers in today’s event. I express my gratitude to you for this. I have thought about Selim Al Din. If I get a chance, I will express my thoughts about him in the future.’
The ‘Selim Al Din Sahitya Puraskar 2025’ award ceremony was presided over by the convener of the Feni Sahitya Sabha, poet-researcher, journalist Shabih Mahmud.
The guests of the ‘Selim Al Din Sahitya Puraskar 2025’ award ceremony were Golam Md. Baten, Deputy Director of the Local Government Department of the District Administration and Administrator of Feni Municipality, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ismail Hossain and senior poet of Feni, Manjur Tajim.
The welcome speech was delivered by the member secretary of the Feni Sahitya Sabha, Bakul Akhter Darya. The senior member of the Feni Sahitya Sabha, poet Md. Abdul Wadud, novelist Nurul Amin Hridoy, poet Saikat Raihan, etc.
The award ceremony was jointly hosted by the senior member of Feni Sahitya Sabha, poet Shamim Patwari, and poet Rabeya Sultana, and the rainy evening became lively with the participation of the administration, literary-cultural-civil society,y and journalists. It is worth mentioning that Salimullah Khan came to Feni last Tuesday to receive the award after being unable to participate in the Feni Sahitya Sabha`s first-ever Feni Sahitya Conference in January.
Former president of Feni Press Club Muhammad Abu Taher Bhuiyan, story writer Diltaz Rahman, advocate-poet Ziauddin Bulbul, journalist-cultural organizer Asaduzzaman Dara, nephew of Selim Al Din and general secretary of Selim Al Din Center Qudrat-e-Khuda Picasso, president of Nazrul Academy-Feni branch Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Titu, among others, delivered speeches congratulating Dr. Salimullah Khan.
Later, a pleasant cultural program was held with the participation of children. Finally, the attendees participated in a dinner in honor of Dr. Salimullah Khan.
