Waliul Haq Rumi passed away

Popular television actor Waliul Haq Rumi passed away at 3:58 am yesterday (Inna Lillahi Wainna Ilaihi Rajiun). He was suffering from cancer. After all, he was receiving treatment at Capital's Ibn Sina Hospital.

People are mourning his death in Barguna. The actor's first Janaza was held at Shahid Bagh Jame Masjid yesterday at 9 am. The second Janaza was also held at Barguna Shaheed Abul Hossain Eidgah ground. After the janaza, he was to be buried next to his mother in Barguna, confirmed actor Mir Sabbir.

 Rumi was born in Bamna of Barguna district. His father was a brave freedom fighter Azizul Haque, and his mother's name is Hamida Haque. Rumi is one of three sisters and three brothers. He is the eldest among the brothers. Rumi has two children. His daughter Afra Anjum Rujba lives in Canada with her husband and children. His son Fardin Haque Ritam recently completed his education at a private university.

Rumi's acting debut was in the 'Ekhanho Kritodas' play at Theater Bailey Road. That was in 1988. In the same year, he made his debut on the small screen with the play 'Kon Kananer Phul'. Apart from television, he also acted in movies. In 2009, he first acted in the film 'Dariapar's Doulati'. Since then he has acted in numerous plays.

Some of the notable dramas are Suggestion Salim, Bokasoka Tinjon, Makeup Man, Dhaka to Barishal, Dhaka Metro Love, American Saheb, Journey by Bus, Baki Nam Faki, Ratane Ratan Chine, Akash Churi, Chaita Pagal, etc.
