Bandarban tourism to resume within a week

The district administration has assured to open the tourist center of Bandarban within the next 7 to 10 days. The administration also assured to cooperate with the tourism businessmen regarding the damage.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shah Mujahid Uddin said this at a view exchange meeting with tourism stakeholders at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room yesterday morning.

DC Shah Mujahid Uddin said a proposal has been sent to open these four upazilas including Sadar, Lama, Alikadam and Naikhongchhari among the seven upazilas in Bandarban. The rest of the three upazilas – Ruma, Thanchi and Rowangchhari – will be considered and later those upazilas will be opened soon.

Meanwhile, the businessmen concerned of tourism presented various problems to the administration about the loss of the tourism industry due to the closure of the tourist center for a long month. Earlier, the district administration imposed a ban on tourists in the three hill districts of Khagrachhari, Bandarban and Rangamati from October 8 to October 31.

Bandarban Superintendent of Police Shahidullah Kawser, Major Md Shaikh Uz Zaman, prominent businessman Kajal Kanti Das, Press Club President Aminul Islam Bachchu, Bandarban Residential Hotel Motel Resort Owners Association President Sirajul Islam, General Secretary Md Jasim Uddin and many others were present in the meeting.
