The death toll from the incident of a head-on collision between a bus and a private car in Bogura has risen to four after another injured succumbed to his injuries.The unidentified injured passenger died around 2:30 pm while undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
Earlier, three people were killed and two others injured in the accident that took place around 10:30 am on the Naogaon-Bagura regional highway in front of Erulia High School in Bogura Sadar upazila.The deceased were Faim, 55, joint general secretary of Bogura district Motor Workers Union, its members Abdul Hannan, 44, and Algir Hossain, 42, said Abdul Hamid Mithul, president of the union. Quoting witnesses, Bogura Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman said the victims faced the tragic accident when they were heading towards Naogaon from Bogura.
Their car collided head-on with a passenger-carrying bus while attempting to overtake a speedy truck, leaving three dead on the spot and two others critically injured. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, police seized both vehicles from the spot, however, the driver of the bus and his associate managed to flee the scene, the police official added.
