Maheshpur 58, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 3 smugglers along with 7 bottles of LSD worth Tk 7 crore from Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah. They were arrested from the Kusumpur border area of the upazila around 2 pm yesterday. Those arrested were Riaz, Mohammad Imam Hossain, Mubarak Ali. 58 BGB Deputy Director Major Molla Obaidur Rahman confirmed the matter. He said that a large consignment of LSD drug is being smuggled into Bangladesh from India through the Kusumpur border.
Based on such news, a BGB patrol led by Abdus Salam took position. Sensing the presence of the BGB, the smugglers tried to run away with sacks and 3 people were arrested. The raiding party searched the spot and seized 7 bottles of LSD (100 ml per bottle), mobile, georgette sarees, various cosmetics, medicines and various goods brought illegally from India to Bangladesh. The total seizure value of the seized goods is Tk 7 crore 34 lakh 69404.
The arrested accused were being handed over to Maheshpur police station through legal process.
