Nine children died in one week

Like the rest of the country, Rangpur has also experienced severe heat waves. Diseases are increasing in severe heat waves. As a result, there is no room for moles in the children's ward of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH). Several hospital sources said that 9 children died due to diarrhea and pneumonia due to severe heat.

Rangpur Medical College Hospital with 1000 beds has 1800 to 2000 patients every day. A severe drought has been sweeping over the region for the past few days. Various diseases including fever and diarrhea have increased in hostile weather. Along with this, the number of patients in RMCH Hospital has also increased. Especially the pediatric ward is overcrowded. Treatment is being given in the balcony of the ward as there is not enough space for the patients in the children's ward. However, the hospital authorities say that the number of patients has not increased due to the heat.

According to RMCH Hospital authorities, 178 patients have been admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours. The total number of patients was 2 thousand 54 which is more than double the capacity. Hospital authorities are struggling to provide medical care to additional patients. Abdur Rahman from Kurigram admitted his daughter in ward number 9. He said that the one-and-a-half-month-old baby had diarrhea and fever for a week.

The child has pneumonia. So I was admitted to RMCH Hospital. Sixty-year-old Borhan Uddin, who came from the Chatra area of Pirganj in Rangpur for treatment, said that he was in danger after coming for treatment. He had to take treatment on the floor without getting a bed. It is very difficult. The director of Rangpur Medical College Hospital Dr. Yunus Ali said, due to the lack of space in the ward, many patients are treated on the balcony. However, an inter-departmental meeting has been called on today to deal with the outbreak.

Meanwhile, Rangpur Meteorological Office Assistant Meteorologist Mostafizar Rahman said that the temperature in Rangpur was 36.5 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. There is no chance of rain in the next week. This meteorologist said that the temperature will increase further.
