A case has been filed against the owner of the bus in the incident of the death of 20 people when the passenger bus of Imad Paribahan lost control and fell into a ditch on the Padma Bridge Expressway at Shibchar in Madaripur.
The case was filed by Sergeant Jayant Sarkar of Shivchar police station at around 2 pm on Sunday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Highway Police Station Abu Naim Mofazzel said that the case was filed against Saudi expatriate Sabbir Hossain, the owner of Imad Paribahan. Whether there were any extra passengers in the car, whether it was driven recklessly or not and whether it was fit were mentioned as the main factors in the case. As the driver and helper were killed in the accident, no case was filed against them. Sergeant Jayant Das will investigate the case and take necessary action.
On Sunday morning, a bus of Imad Paribahan, which left Khulna, lost control and fell into a ditch before the Padma Bridge in Madaripur's Shivchar at the Qutubpur area of the expressway. At this time, the bus twisted.
Officer-in-Charge of Shibchar Highway Police (OC) Abu Naeem Md. Mofazzel Haque said that 20 people have been killed in the accident so far. The bodies of 14 passengers were recovered from the spot. Later four people died while undergoing treatment at Shivchar Upazila Health Complex. Besides, two others died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
