From 2001 to 2016, a gang leaked the question of admission to medical 10 times in 16 years. Five of the seven doctors involved in the racket are involved in BNP politics. Another is involved in student politics. According to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), they were running the business of leaking questions under the guise of coaching centers of various medical admissions.
CID cyber team arrested 12 members of the gang in different areas of Dhaka, Tangail, Kishoreganj and Barishal districts from July 30 to August 9.
Additional IGP CID chief Mohammad Ali Miah said this at a press conference at malibagh CID headquarters at 12 noon on Sunday. CID Cyber Unit SSP Touhidul Islam, Additional SSP Jewel Chakma and Azad Rahman were present on the occasion.
The arrestees were identified as Dr Moyez Uddin Ahmed Prodhan, the mastermind of the medical admission question leak racket. He was involved in the question leak racket through fine coaching centre. He has enrolled hundreds of students in medical schools in the last 17 years. He is involved in the politics of Jamaat-Shibir. His wife Soheli Zaman, a doctor at the National Institute of Ophthalmology, is also a member of the gang. Dr. Abu Raihan, Dr. ZM Salehin Shovon, Dr. Zobaidur Rahman Johnny, Dr. Zillur Hasan Rony of National Crippled Hospital (NITOR), Dr. Imrul Kayes Himmel. Besides, Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan Muktar, Raushan Ali Himu, Akteruzzaman Tushar, Zahir Uddin Ahmed Bappi and Abdul Quddus Sarkar.
