Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) boundary has been reduced by hundreds of square kilometers. The government has redefined the boundaries of the organization. Gazipur part has been excluded from the administrative area of RAJUK in the demarcation. As a result, the boundary of RAJUK has decreased 434 square kilometers. However, one of RAJUK's proposals had plans to extend the border. But for now that limit has been reduced. Originally it was not possible for the Rajuk to properly supervise such a vast territory.
But now it is expected that as a result of reducing the boundaries, the organization will be active in fulfilling its responsibilities properly. This information is known from sources related to Rajuk. According to the relevant sources, recently an office order of RAJUK has informed about the redefining of the boundaries of the organization.
According to the office order, according to the decision of the general meeting of RAJUK, the boundaries of the existing zones and sub-zones of the organization have been redefined. At present the boundaries are re-demarcated with eight zones and sub-zones under zones as before. Earlier, the boundary of Rajuk was 1 thousand 528 square kilometers. As a result of the new determination, the boundary of Rajuk stands at 1 thousand 94 square kilometers. 434 square kilometers area of Gazipur City Corporation has been excluded from Rajuk. A separate organization called Gazipur Development Authority (GAUC) has been formed there.
According to sources, the details have been mentioned in the notification of eight zones of Rajuk. Zone number one Ashulia-Savar-Bypile-Zirabo-Uttara boundary is Savar Upazila boundary, Sreepur Road, Dhaka District boundary, Tongi Ghorashal Highway, Tongi Industrial Zone, Airport Station South boundary from Uttara Sector 3, Sector 5 boundary to Birulia Bridge, Birulia Road, Savar Bazar Road and the boundaries of Savar Upazila. Zone number two Purbachal Newtown-Khilkhet-Uttarkhan-Dakshinkhan border is Uttara Turag river (Dhaka district boundary), Purbachal northern part boundary, Rupganj upazila boundary, Shitalakshya river boundary, Kanchan Bridge, Purbachal South part canal-Purbachal Expressway Canal-Kokuril Bishwaroad, Up to the eastern side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh road.
Zone Three Savar Municipality-Hemayetpur-Pallabi-Dhaka Cantonment-Sheorapara-Mirpur 1 is bounded by West of Dhaka Airport Railway Station, Kuril Bishwa Road, Tejgaon Railway (Dhaka Elevated Expressway), Mohakhali Cross, Jahangir Gate, Old Airport Road, Agargaon Link Road, Shyamoli, Gabtali, Dhaka-Aricha Highway, south side of Madhumati Model Town, Banshi River, boundary of Paschim Savar Upazila. Zone Four Bhulta-Jalsindi Absan-Baridhara-Gulshan-Aftabnagar is bounded by Kuril Bishwa Road, Dhaka Elevated Expressway (east side), entire part of Tejgaon Industrial Area, Tejgaon Railway Line in the west, North side of Hatirjheel Link Road, North side of Begunbari Canal, Dasherkandi, Jalsindi through Hatirjheel. Begunbari Canal, Dasherkandi, Bhulta, Rupganj Upazila Boundary, Kanchan Bridge and Zone Two Boundary. Zone Five Mohammadpur-Hazaribagh-Kamrangirchar-Kalatiar boundaries are Ruhitpur, Babubazar, Buriganga II Bridge, Salimullah Medical College, Rai Saheb Bazar Mor, Nawabpur Road, Kaptan Bazar, Rajuk Office, Secretariat, Segunbagicha, Moghbazar, Karwan Bazar and zone three boundaries.
Zone six Moghbazar-Kamalapur-Matuail-Demra-Tarabo boundaries are Hatirjheel Junction, Rajuk Office, Jatrabari Junction, Signboard Junction, Kachpur Setu, Madanpur and Dasherkandi. Zone seven Keraniganj-Sadarghat-Jhilmil residential area-Ruhitpur boundary is Ruhitpur, Dhaka district boundary and signboard intersection. And zone eight Pagla-Fatullah-Chashadha-Narayanganj City Corporation boundary is Narayanganj Sadar, south and east side of signboard intersection.
Regarding reducing the boundaries of Rajuk, Institute for Planning and Development (IPD) Director Professor Dr. Adil Muhammad Khan said that the issue of increasing or reducing the boundaries was not done in terms of planning. This has been done administratively. The government has formed a new development authority. Now the area of Rajuk has decreased slightly. Hence they should perform the work appropriately in the existing situation. Till now there was a huge area, there was not enough manpower to look after it. As a result, there were difficulties somewhere. Now that is gone. It is expected that this time Rajuk will focus on increasing their performance.
