Russell‍‍`s viper found at Maheshpur

A venomous Russell Viper snake was recovered from Pepulbaria village of 4 No Swaruppur Union of Maheshpur Upazila of Jhenaidah District.

Ujjal Hossain, son of deceased Noor Islam of Bipulbaria village, left the cherua net (local name) for fishing in the Ichamati river on the India-Bangladesh border last Thursday morning. In the afternoon, when he went to pick up the cherua net from the river, he found a poisonous Russell viper snake trapped inside. Ujjal Hossain took the snake and kept it in his house and informed Maheshpur Upazila Forest Officer Mr. Shafiqul Islam.

The snake was handed over to Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge of the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, Jashore Sharsha Zone under the guidance of Forest Officer Wildlife Management Nature Conservation Fisheries Specialist Khulna, Mofizur Rahman Chowdhury.

Maheshpur Prokritipremi organization president Nazmul Hossain, local ward member Kheder Hossain and local people were present at this time.
