Thief beaten to death

A youth named Ariful Islam alias Bush (30) was allegedly beaten to death in Daulatpur of Kushtia for theft.

The murder took place in Mahishkundi Purbopara village of Pragpur union of the upazila yesterday. The deceased Ariful is the son of Golam Mustafa of that area.

According to police and local sources, a bicycle was stolen from the house of Golam Driver in Purbopara area of ​​Mohiskundi last Tuesday night. Later, the local people, including the family members of the slave driver, detained Bush on suspicion of being a thief and beat him up on Wednesday night. At one point, he fell ill yesterday morning and died on the spot. But this Bush was a professional thief and drug addict, they claimed.

Pragpur Union UP Chairman Ashrafuzzaman Mukul said that the deceased young man was a professional thief and drug addict. He was beaten up by the villagers over a theft incident in the area. He also told them about the theft. Later I heard that he died.

Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahabubur Rahman said that a thief named Ariful Islam was beaten to death by local residents and members of the stolen family. The body was recovered and sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken based on the complaint.
