Two more dengue deaths, 134 patients hospitalised

The number of dengue cases in the country is increasing again. In the last 24 hours, two people have died of the Aedes mosquito-borne virus. At the same time, 134 people have been admitted to the hospital after being infected. With this, the number of dengue patients currently admitted to various government and private hospitals in the country has reached 506.

This information was given in a report on dengue signed by Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, in-charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Thursday (June 8).

It is said that from 8 am on Wednesday (June 7) to 8 am on Thursday, 134 people were admitted to different government and private hospitals of the country with dengue. Of them, 122 are from Dhaka and 12 from outside Dhaka.

According to the Department of Health, 2,854 people have been admitted to the hospital with dengue from January 1 to June 8 this year. Of them, 2,119 were admitted to government and private hospitals in the capital. And 735 people have been admitted to other departments outside Dhaka.

On the other hand, 2,327 people have been discharged from the hospital. Of them, 1,665 are from Dhaka and 662 from outside Dhaka. At the same time, 21 people have died of dengue in the country.

In the last year (2022), 281 people died of dengue, the highest in the country's history. In December, the last month of the year, 27 people died of dengue. At the same time, 62,382 people were admitted to the hospital with dengue in the year under discussion.
