Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted a mosquito-killing and special-cleaning campaign in the area adjacent to Lalbagh Fort today.
Local Government Department Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi was the chief guest at this campaign. In the presence of the DSCC administrator, Md. Shahjahan Mia, the Waste Management Department, the Health Department, and local leaders participated in this special cleaning campaign.
In this cleaning campaign that started at 06:00 am, a total of five hundred workers, including the cleaning workers of the Waste Management Department and the mosquito killers of the Health Department, cleaned the area adjacent to Lalbagh Fort and applied mosquito repellent.
During the cleanliness program, during the briefing of journalists, the Secretary of the Local Government Department, Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi, said as the chief guest, "Our main goal is to alleviate the suffering of the people and prevent the outbreak of dengue and give a beautiful Dhaka." For that, DSCC is conducting regular mosquito control activities along with special cleanliness drives and is spreading awareness to every person. If every citizen of the city is aware, the city will remain beautiful.
Also, there are many traditional establishments in Lalbagh, we will develop them as tourist zones to attract foreign tourists. A sewage treatment plant is being built in Dhaka, where the waste of the area will be treated. As a result, there will be no foul smell.
Speaking as the special guest, the Administrator of the DSCC, Md. Shahjahan Mia said, "Old Dhaka is the birthplace of Dhaka, the journey of Dhaka begins from here. Old Dhaka has its own culture." We want Old Dhaka, which is rich in traditional structures, to develop into a new tourist spot centered on its own culture. To that end, we are emphasizing cleanliness to highlight the ancient heritage and beauty of Old Dhaka.
In addition, we have already started a cleanliness drive to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquitoes during the upcoming dengue season. We are also involving the public in the drive to make them aware. If we can ensure public awareness and participation along with the DSCC, we will be able to build a clean and tidy city together. To make Dhaka a beautiful and green city, we will hold a tree plantation program in the coming monsoon season.
It is worth noting that as part of the drive, the guests participated in a public awareness rally.
DSCC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Zillur Rahman, all department heads, and local leaders were present in the cleanliness drive.
