Chinese company to invest $ 10.47mn in BEPZA EZ

Baishili Household Products Bangladesh Co. Ltd., a Chinese company, is set to invest $ 10.47 million to establish a household products and bag manufacturing industry in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) located in Mirsharai, Chattogram.

An agreement to this effect was signed today at the BEPZA Complex, Dhaka, between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Baishili Household Products Bangladesh Co. Ltd.

In the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc, the agreement was signed by Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion), on behalf of BEPZA, and Sun Rundong, Chairman of Baishili Household Products Bangladesh Co. Ltd., on behalf of the company.

The foreign-owned company will annually produce 21.41 million pieces of various household storage, decoration, and related products, along with different kinds of bags. The project is expected to create employment for 989 Bangladeshi nationals.

The BEPZA Executive Chairman welcomed Baishili Household’s investment in Bangladesh, particularly in BEPZA EZ. 

He urged the company to begin factory construction as early as possible and emphasized the optimum use of land. He also called for the installation of solar panels on factory rooftops and the implementation of a rainwater harvesting system, with environmental considerations in mind.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Engineering) Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md. Khorshid Alam, Project Director of BEPZA EZ Mohammad Anamul Haque, Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, along with a representative from Baishili Household Products.
