A van driver and two of its passengers were killed after a truck smashed the vehicle in Bagerhat's Rampal upazila on yesterday morning.The accident happened on the Khulna-Mongla highway at about 7:45am.
The deceased were van driver Md Moni, 45, Md Sayeed Morol, 45, and Md Azad, 35. According to police, a Mongla-bound speeding truck smashed an engine-run van coming from opposite direction in Chairman Mor area, leaving three critically injured.They were rushed to Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared the trio dead.Mohammad Babul Akhter, inspector of Bagerhat police's special branch, said police team managed to arrest the driver with his truck. Vehicular movement on the highway became normal, police added.
