UN Peacekeepers Day-2025 celebrated in Khulna

The ‍‍`International UN Peacekeepers Day-2025‍‍` was celebrated in Khulna today with due dignity and various programs under the management of the Bangladesh Navy.

 A special rally and a discussion program were organized at Fairway Multipurpose Hall in Banaue Titumir to highlight the day to the public at all levels. The day has been celebrated every year on 29 May since 2002 to commemorate the deep respect and outstanding contribution of peacekeepers from all countries of the world participating in UN peacekeeping operations. 

Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman, Chairman of Mongla Port Authority, was present as the chief guest at the said program. The event was attended by local representatives of the United Nations, serving and retired members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces of Khulna and Jessore regions, Bangladesh Police, local administration, students of educational institutions run by the Armed Forces, and members of BNCC and Naval Scouts.

To celebrate the day, a special rally started from Shibbari intersection at 0735 am and ended at the Bangladesh Navy Base Banoja Titumir. Later, at a discussion organized at Fairway Multipurpose Hall in Banoja Titumir, pigeons and balloons, symbols of peace, were released in the presence of guests. The event included recitation from the Holy Quran, and a minute of silence was observed in memory of the members who sacrificed their lives for peacekeeping.

It is worth noting that a total of 2,00,558 peacekeeping members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Police have completed 63 missions in 43 countries of the world so far. So far, 168 members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Police have sacrificed their lives in fulfilling this great responsibility of establishing world peace. The active participation of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Police members in international UN peacekeeping missions has enhanced the country‍‍`s reputation in the international arena and upheld the image of the United Nations. 

In addition, the image of the United Nations has already been recognized as a trusted friend of the United Nations in establishing peace in various war-torn regions of the world. Bangladesh‍‍`s peacekeepers will always work to uphold the country‍‍`s reputation through prudence, professionalism, and courage in the future to face the increasing challenges of a changing world.
