Today, the Airport Security Exercise 2025 was held at Shah Amanat International Airport at 11 am. The main objective of this exercise was to safely evacuate passengers and practice the process of deactivating or recovering bombs if a bomb or bomb-like object is found on an aircraft.
According to the instructions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), such exercises are organized every two years to assess the ability to deal with various risks, including hijacking, fire safety, and bomb attacks.
The Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB), Air Force, Army, Navy, Fire Service, Civil Defense, law enforcement agencies, various hospitals, and other relevant organizations participated in the exercise.
In the exercise, a message came to the airport control room that there was a bomb-like object on an aircraft. The matter was immediately reported to the relevant organizations, and a rapid prevention process was started. The concerned unit identified the suspicious object from the aircraft within a short time and neutralized it.
Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, OSP, BUP, ndc, nswc, afwc, psc was present as the chief guest at the event.
At the beginning of his speech, the chief guest sincerely thanked all the concerned organizations for their active participation in the exercise. He mentioned that AVSEC members have been conducting regular exercises along with performing their duties following the instructions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for a long time. According to him, no activity can be effectively completed without proper preparation, and therefore, training and regular practice are essential.
He also said that as per the instructions of ICAO, every international airport should verify its readiness and capability through timely exercises. Today`s exercise was organized as per his instructions. However, he termed it as very positive as the necessary activities were completed in the shortest possible time in today`s exercise. He mentioned that the situation has been brought under control smoothly with the joint and coordinated efforts of various organizations.
The chief guest praised the skills and preparedness of the participating organizations and said that the performance of each was very satisfactory. At the end of his speech, he called on everyone to work more responsibly and sincerely in the national interest.
It is worth noting that an aircraft and a helicopter were provided by the Air Force to conduct the exercise.
In addition, senior officials of various organizations participating in the exercise, including the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation, and Tourism, were also present.
