Funeral parade FF GC M Abul Kalam Azad, PSC MT C&E (Retd) held

The fearless freedom fighter of the great war of independence, Group Captain M Abul Kalam Azad, PSC MT C&E (Retd) died of a heart attack in Kolkata, India on Saturday 2025 at 8 am (Innalillahi wa inna ilayhe rajiun).

He was 75 years and 19 days old at the time of his death. At the time of his death, he left behind a wife, three sons and numerous admirers.

Today, the funeral parade and namaz-e-janaza of the deceased were held at the Bashar Parade Ground, Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Base. The event was attended by respected army and air force chiefs, senior officers of the military and other rank-and-file members.

Heroic Freedom Fighter Group Captain M Abul Kalam Azad, PSC MT C&E (Retd) was born on 03 June 1950 in a respectable Muslim family in Solar Char village of Munshiganj district. He was a heroic freedom fighter. His contribution to the Liberation War in 1971 will be remembered by the nation forever. He was commissioned in the MT C&E branch of the BAF on 27 June 1974 (with early seniority on 27 June 1972).

He retired with the rank of Group Captain on 06 May 2004 after serving for 28 years, 11 months and 06 days.
