Presidential parade held at BMA

The Presidential Parade, organized to mark the commissioning of the officer cadets of the 88th Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) Long-Term Course of BMA, was held at the BMA Parade Ground in Bhatiari, Chittagong today.

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, BBP, OSP, GUP, NSWC, PSC, was present as the chief guest at the event and inspected the delightful parade and received the salute of the parade. He also distributed awards among the meritorious cadets.

The Air Chief told the cadets who completed their training that the newly commissioned officers had been entrusted with the sacred responsibility of protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country by taking the oath. The chief guest expressed his hope that the army will become a professional, disciplined, and well-equipped force with the latest weapons and equipment. Finally, he expressed his sincere gratitude to the Commandant of the Academy, all concerned officers, JCOs, NCOs, soldiers, civilian officials, and employees for the impressive parade. 

After three years of rigorous military training, a total of 155 officer cadets of the 88th BMA Long Term Course were commissioned through this impressive parade. Among the commissioned officers in the Bangladesh Army, there are 128 male and 23 female officers.

In addition, among the commissioned officers, there are four Palestinian officers who will join the army of their own country. Battalion Senior Under Officer Samrat Jabir, the best cadet of the 88th BMA Long Term Course, was awarded the ‍‍`Sword of Honor‍‍` and Company Senior Officer Md. Abdul Wadud Masum was awarded the ‍‍`Chief of Army Staff Gold Medal‍‍` for excellence in military affairs.

Among the foreign cadets, Officer Cadet Sergeant Mohammad Isbeh of Palestine received the ‍‍`BMA Trophy of Excellence‍‍`. Later, the graduating cadets took a formal oath to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country. After that, the guests present at the ceremony and the parents and guardians of the graduating cadets presented the rank badges to the new officers. 

At the beginning of the program, when the chief guest arrived at the BMA Parade Ground, he was welcomed by the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) Army Training and Doctrine Command, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander Chittagong Area, and the Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy. High-ranking military and civilian officials from home and abroad, parents and guardians of the newly commissioned officers, and media personnel were present at the program and witnessed the colorful parade.
