Floating Hospital for riverside people

It looks like a launch. Anyone can think that it is waiting for passengers, but not. It is a floating hospital, where health care is provided to the people of the riverside area for a minimum amount of money.

The floating hospital was built on the model of a launch to provide health care to the people on the banks of the river. In exchange for only Tk 50, poor people can get health care through expert doctors. The Jibantari launch, which has been serving thousands of people for 25 years, has been anchored on the Arial Khan River in Madaripur for one and a half months. Officials of the organization are happy to stand next to the poor people.

The Impact Life Floating Hospital has been anchored in the Arial Khan River for the past one and a half months in the Kazirtek Old Ferry Ghat area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila. Hundreds of people are thronging this hospital for healthcare every day. Patients can get healthcare for only Tk 50. They are happy to get better health care for less money.

It was known that doctors have been providing treatment for complex diseases including nose-ear throat and eye surgery, congenital cleft lip, hand, and foot repair, treatment of broken limbs, and eye surgery while floating in the river in the service of humanity. A private organization called Impact Foundation Bangladesh has been providing healthcare for 25 years. Officials said that the main goal is to bring all people under health care. A total of 32 staff and employees including three specialist doctors, and four nurses are working in the hospital 24 hours a day. Doctors are seeing patients every day from 9 am to 5 pm. As this program started last January, it will continue throughout June.

Nupur Begum, a patient who came to the floating hospital from the truck stand area, said that a fee of Tk 500 to Tk1000 is required to see a doctor elsewhere. And I can get health care for only Tk 50 in the floating hospital. It is good news for the poor.

Suman Hawladar, another patient from the Jaffrabad area, said that after seeing an eye doctor for Tk 50, he got tested for 200 rupees. After that, I got the solution to the problem of the disease. This is a big opportunity for us.

A 70-year-old woman who came to take care of the floating hospital said that it does not take much money here. The doctors here are also good. Hearing the problem of the disease, they prescribed medicine.

Dr. Impact Jivantari Vasman Hospital Dr. Mofazzel Hossain said, this hospital provides treatment in three departments. I see the nose, ears, and throat. There are two other specialist doctors. Patients are seen here for a fee of only Tk 50. If the patient is complicated, surgery is called for at certain times. There are also facilities for operations in floating hospitals at affordable rates.

Another doctor named Riadul Islam said, the treatment of congenital hand-legs patients is done here. Here the operation is done at a low cost. The main objective is to provide treatment here so that the people of the riverside area can come under health care.

Dr. Sujan Ali said that patients are getting proper treatment here for eye problems. Patients can get first aid by paying a ticket of Tk 50. Later, if necessary, eye phaco operation is also done at a low cost.

Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Administrator of Impact Life Floating Hospital said, 32 people working in the institution while floating in the river provide medical services to the people of the coastal area. Serving humanity is our main goal. People living in riverside areas are mostly poor. It is difficult for them to spend more money and get modern treatment in the city. So for their convenience, we have been providing medical services for 25 years. We provide health care in each area for two to six months by staying.
