In Kurigram, a human chain has been formed to protest against the formation of the head teacher's fabricated managing committee without elections. Angry students, parents, and local residents took part in an hour-long human chain in the Khamar Baraibari High School grounds of Bhogdanga Union of Kurigram Sadar Upazila at noon yesterday in protest.
Safiqul Islam, Shahabuddin, Tajul Islam, Abdul Hamid, and others spoke in the human chain. In the educational institution established in 1993 AD, the committee has been formed according to the wishes of the headmaster without elections. The speakers said that in the age of digital technology, they don't want to make up committees anymore.
At that time, they demanded that the head teacher's concocted committee be canceled and the committee be formed through the election process. Otherwise, the speakers announced to take a strict program later.
At the end of the human chain, they gave memorandums to various offices including the Kurigram District Commissioner.
It is to be noted that on the eve of the expiry of the school's current managing committee on May 8, 2024, the headmaster Rezaul Haque secretly formed the committee and submitted it to the higher authorities. When the matter came to light, there was a huge reaction among the students, parents, and locals.
