Five people, including Awami League (AL) leaders, were killed in separate incidents while fleeing from Feni due to the news of students resigning and fleeing the country in the face of mass protests. Among them, 1 AL, 3 Jubo League leaders and activists and another 1 is said to be a battery-operated auto-rickshaw driver.
The relatives of the deceased have confirmed these deaths till yesterday evening. The body of a Jubo League leader named Mushfiqur Rahman was recovered from a canal in Saheberhat area of Amirabad Union in Sonagazi district on Tuesday.
Md Zahirul Alam, chairman of Nawabpur Union Parishad of Sonagazi upazila, said that although the matter was reported to the law and order forces, no one came to the rescue. Later, the relatives of the deceased were called and the body was handed over.
On the same day, locals recovered the burqa-clad body of a Jubo League leader named Mushfiqur Rahim Mishu. On the other hand, the dead body of a Jubo League worker named Badsha Mia alias Kana Badsha (40) was recovered in Baligaon Union of Feni Sadar Upazila.
