Mathurapur Deul: witness of history

Mathurapur Deul of Gajna Union of Madhukhali Upazila of Faridpur is a 16th century structure. It is located on the west side of the road in Gajna Union, two kilometers from Madhukhali Sadar on the Madhukhali-Baliakandi regional road from Madhukhali Bazar on the Dhaka-Khulna National Highway. The Chandana River flows in the opposite direction. Travellers from one part of the country to the other constantly rush to see this historic deul of Mathurapur. However, there are no tourist facilities. I have to come here and face a lot of distractions. About 80 feet high on 0.40 acres of land, the beautiful and artistic work and architectural style of the village of the village suggests that it is a feat of the Mughal period. There are inscriptions all over the body of the deul, numerous small statues made of clay plaques, which are attracting visitors to their minds and provoking curiosity to know.

According to sources, Mansingh, the famous general of Emperor Akbar, built this deul as a memorial to the victory of the war against King Pratapaditya. Accordingly, Mathurapur Deul is a victory pillar. Among the 16th century structures, Mathurapur Deul is the only line of nature. The main composition of the structure is a mixture of lime-brick. There are geometric and exterior paintings of terracotta throughout the structure. Like the Ramayana Krishnaleela, there are images of Hindu mythology, singers, nityakala, Pawan's son Veer Hanuman and war paintings are also etched on this deul. A crescent face is placed in the middle of each corner. However, nothing has been found where the article is located. Its construction style bears unique characteristics in the history of Bengal. It is a protected asset of the Security Service Division. Due to long-term negligence, the wall had fallen into disrepair. In 2014, Faridpur deputy commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman took up the renovation and beautification work of the deul. The renovation and beautification work was completed in late March 2014.
