Meat market becomes unstable again

The meat market is not coming under control in Madaripur. Tk800-850 per kg of beef is at the retail level. And the price of chicken has also increased by Tk 15-20 per kg. On Friday and yesterday morning, Madaripur municipality's Chowrasta market was visited, and customers were thronging the meat shop. Beef has to be bought at Tk800-850 per kg. According to the shopkeeper, if you buy meat, you have to pay the price of Tk800, and if you buy according to the customer's choice, the price of the same cow becomes Tk850 per kg. And goat per kg has stopped at Tk1150-1200.

Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat is also high. The price of chicken has increased by Tk 15-20 per kg. Boiler chicken is being sold in the market at Tk 220, cock and Sonali chicken at Tk 320 per kg. In addition, the price of domestic chicken is taken from the customer as desired. Besides, domestic duck is being sold at Tk 500-550 per kg and swan at Tk 700-750 per kg. Customers complain that due to lack of market regulation, the shopkeepers are taking the price of meat as they wish. The sellers claim that the price of meat has increased in the market due to the increase in the price at the field level.

Another seller, Al Amin Sardar, said that it is not possible to buy at a high price and sell at a low price. If we get a cow at a low price from the village, we will also sell it at a low price. We have to buy at a higher price; one of the reasons for this is the high price of cow feed.

Jannatul Ferdous, Madaripur Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection Department, said that the market was raided following the complaints of the buyers. If the allegations are found to be true, legal action is taken against the dishonest traders. Along with the fine, the shopkeepers are also warned.
