Peace rally held in Matiranga

With the aim of establishing peace in the hills, a peace harmony rally was organized for all the communities living in the hills at Matiranga of Khagrachari district.

Matiranga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Md Mizanur Rahman presided over this peace and harmony rally yesterday. Khagrachari District Commissioner Md Sahiduzzaman was present as the chief guest in the harmony rally.

Khagrachhari District Superintendent of Police Md Arefin Juwel, former Matiranga Municipal Mayor Abu Yusuf Chowdhury, former Hill District Parishad member Monindra Kishore Eipura, former Matiranga Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Nashir Ahmad Chowdhury, former Matiranga Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Tajul Islam spoke as special guests. Human rights activist Shahena Akhter gave welcome speech.

Matiranga Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Ziaur Rahman, Matiranga Upazila Civic and Security Committee Convener Md Nurul Alam, Matiranga Central Kali Mandir Priest Shri Mridhal Chatruvarty, Marma Youth Union Leader Ancha Marma, Chakma Representative Kalyan Mia Chakma, among others spoke.

In the speech of the special guest, Superintendent of Police of Khagrachari Md Arefin Juwel called for the cooperation of the law and order forces in establishing peace and said that the law and order forces are working hard to suppress any crime. He also called upon everyone to respect the law by saying that the culprits will be brought under the law subject to a fair investigation of the recent killings.

In the speech of the chief guest, Khagrachari District Commissioner Md Sahiduzzaman said, in the hills

Md Sahiduzzaman, District Administrator of Khagrachari emphasized on maintaining communal harmony among themselves by forgetting all the differences, said that communal harmony cannot be destroyed by anyone's incitement. A sense of brotherhood should be awakened among themselves. Stating that no particular group can be given an opportunity to create conflict between hill and Bengali people, he also said, Khagrachari District Administrator Md Sahiduzzaman, urging people not to indulge in social media rumours, said that communal harmony cannot be destroyed to keep the hill economy strong.
