Shishu Park not open in one year

Seeing the beautiful park from a distance, many people bring children but returned with disappointment after founding as the park is locked.

The construction work of Mohanganj Municipal Children's Park in Netrokona was completed a year ago, but it has not been inaugurated yet. As a result, the expensive ride of the park, built at a cost of Tk 5 crore, is being wasted due to rain and sunshine.

It was known that in 2018, an initiative was taken to make Mohanganj Municipal Shishu Park for the mental development of children. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually laid the foundation stone of the park on November 2 that year. Later, with the help of the local government, 5.23 acres of land of Naohal village was acquired for Tk 10 crore under the implementation of Mohanganj Municipality.

In the first phase, a contractor named Shopin Trade Talukder filled the soil, built the boundary wall and grill of the park at a cost of Tk 3 crore. In the second phase, the same contractor is implementing various development works including a huge gate, swimming pool, umbrella, seating area at the main gate of the park at a cost of Tk 5 crore. But after four years of construction work, the park has been lying like this for the last one year. Parts of various rides left for children are being wasted. Many parts of iron or steel rides are being destroyed by rusting.

According to park sources, Mohanganj Municipal Shishu Park has a total of 20 rides for children including Nagardola and a 9D room and two more electronic rides.

Upazila Parishad Nirbahi Officer Shabbir Ahmed Akunjee said its activities have been completed 100 percent. It will be opened soon with the opening.
