Interchange construction work is progressing at Hatikumrul of Bangabandhu West Link Highway. There are multiple bridges, culverts, underpasses, and flyovers in this international standard interchange. Besides, there are various facilities including side roads for slow vehicles.

Meanwhile, after the land acquisition, the main piling construction work is progressing vigorously. The project is to be completed within two years.

It is known that Sirajganj's Hatikumrul Roundabout is known as the gateway to the northern region. About 25,000 vehicles from 22 districts of the north and south-western regions travel through it every day. Traffic jams due to excess vehicles are a daily occurrence here. International quality interchanges are being constructed at important points of the highway under the Asia SASEC-2 project to reduce the suffering of traffic congestion.

Hatikumrul Interchange Project Manager Mahbubul Alam said that this Hatikumrul Interchange will establish road communication with neighboring countries including India.

According to sources, the interchange is being constructed by a Chinese contractor called China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Company at a cost of around Tk 738 crore. The project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
