AAUB’s glorious success in USA competition

The ‍‍`Ababil’ team of Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB), secured 16th place among 40 finalist teams from around the world in the 20th International CANSAT Design-Build-Launch Competition organized by the American Astronautical Society (AAS), held in Virginia, USA, from 5 to 9 June 2025.

Vice Chancellor of AAUB, Air Vice Marshal AKM Monirul Bahar, OSP, BSP, NDC, HDMC, AFWC, PSC, ADWC, congratulated ‘Team Ababil’ for their historic success.

One of the most prestigious CANSAT competitions in the world, the CANSAT competition is an excellent platform for future space engineers. This year’s competition called for the design, construction, and launch of a CANSAT system that is suitable for addressing the real challenges of satellites. In continuation of this, Team ‘Ababil’ created a CANSAT science payload satellite model that is capable of surviving atmospheric descent, collecting sensor data, and successfully completing assigned missions such as air brake deployment and telemetry transmission.

In the competition, team ‘Ababil’ outperformed renowned universities from advanced technology-rich countries of the world such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and India, demonstrating extraordinary performance, which not only reflects the talent of Bangladeshi students, but will also inspire future generations to contribute to the international space technology and research sector. Assistant Professor Md. Samin Rahman, Department of Avionics Engineering, AAUB, was engaged in the overall supervision of the team ‘Ababil’.

It is worth noting that Goldhill Alliance, Synax Automation Technology Limited, Square Informatics Limited, ADM Traders Limited, and ZSRM Companies have provided significant financial support for AAUB‍‍`s participation in this international competition.
