Workers protested by blocking the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Jainabazar area of Gazipur's Sreepur demanding an increment of salary and full bonus on Eid. This caused a long traffic jam on both sides of the highway.
Yesterday afternoon, the workers of the factory named Gulshan Spinning Mills Limited in the Jainabazar area, the police reached the spot and explained to the agitating workers. When the agitated workers started throwing bricks at the police, they threw sound grenades and removed the agitated workers from the road. Traffic on the highway was normalized in the afternoon.
Protesting workers Ripa Rani, Mariam Akter, and Hasina Akhtar said that they have been working at Gulshan Spinning Mill in the Janabazar area for a long time. But even after telling the authorities in the factory for many days, the authorities are not paying the salary in the new structure set by the government. The matter was discussed with the authorities several times, but they could not give any decision on these issues.
In this regard, Maona Highway Police officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Mahbub Morshed said, along with the Industrial Police, Maona Highway Police is working to pacify the workers.
